Reflective Essay

Three weeks into a new phase of life, university life, is quite a good time to do some reflection. And I want to reflect on my homework because it has been giving me much problem. I'm ashamed that this reflective essay I'm writing now is actually a piece of overdue homework that was given to me about a week ago. As the third week of university life began, I realised that there was not enough time for self-study while maintaining other activities. As the week goes by, it was clear that my previous balance of life can no longer be sustained. The first 2 weeks of university without tutorial was rather manageable. I could afford to spend time playing basketball and attend activities organised by Hall and nuStudio. But as soon as week 3 began, things starts to turn the other way. Without attempting the tutorials over the weekends, I did not know what was going on in lectures and tutorials. The content of most of the lessons start to become alien to me. I felt nervous attending a tutorial, especially those which I did not attempt a single question. The feeling stayed with me throughout the week and it slowly evolved itself to a sense of crisis. So I begin to reflect on what was the root of my insecurity and I realised it is poor time management. A chinese saying about time goes like this: time is like a sponge, there's always more if you are willing to squeeze harder. This reminds me that I will have to start managing my time to restore the balance of my life and I think prioritising and the use of dateline are two ways that can help me achieve this goal.
